Source of email for LCR Send Message application

Postby waltbristow » Sat Feb 27, 2021 5:20 pm

We have a single sister who has never received any emails send through LCR. When I look at her membership profile in LCR, her email address is listed under "Household email" but not under "Individual email."

Are LCR emails sent only to those with an 'individual email' entry?

She says she does not have (and never has had) and LDSAccount. If that's the case, would LCR email still use the email displayed in LCR? Or would an import from MLS some time ago have populated the LCR email address? I'm wondering if the privacy options in the online directory are set to private by default. So, if someone never set up an LDSAccount and therefore did not change their privacy settings, could LCR send an email to that member?

Hope this is (at least somewhat) clear.

Yes, "Send a Message" only sends to the individual email. A clerk or other bishopric member can enter an email address for a member in LCR (or previously in MLS) whether or not the member has a Church Account. Previously a clerk could also set the privacy settings for a member in the old Directory site but that isn't possible in the new Directory/Map site. However, clerks can still change privacy settings for other members in Member Tools.

If the sister wants to receive emails then a clerk just needs to enter her email address in LCR under the Individual Email and she should receive future messages. I don't think privacy settings affect whether someone is sent a message from LCR.
