8 year old that turn 9 during Covid

The question has come up with a couple families that had children turn 9 years old during the Covid situations. Their normal baptism were delayed by the ward / family ? I believe

Are they to be considered Convert baptism's and have the Missionaries manage the Baptisms because they were delayed?

They would like to participate in the traditional ward planned baptism's

Is there a policy or is this up to the Bishop and Mission ?

In a letter dated May 2020, baptisms were allowed as long as they met local government regulations. As such, I doubt if there will be any church-wide announcement.

I'm not sure as wards will be able to record the baptism of a 9 year-old.

I suspect this is going to be between the bishop and the mission.

Wards can now effectively record baptisms and where appropriate confirmations for all ages, provided that the appropriate paperwork has been completed!

HB 18.7.1 and 18.7.2 are pretty clear in what the stated policy is for interviews as well as the baptismal service, and as mentioned previously no general letters were sent in 2020 with other instructions. That said, I am certain that a discussion between the Bishop and Mission would be appropriate, and between the two of them they can determine what the appropriate course is for any specific situation.

I expect they'll be counted as a "convert baptism" by the Church's statistics, but whether that also translates into their interview and baptismal service, would be a local discussion, and I'm sure they'll take the right considerations into account.
