The YW president in my ward (I'm the finance clerk) is asking me for documentation that the church is a 501(c)(3) organization--apparently she needs it for the YW's fundraiser. Does anybody know if there is an easy way to request this type of document from Salt Lake? Any help is appreciated.

I did this a couple of years ago and finally got the information from the Tax Administration Division. You should be able to look up the division in CDOL. However, if you send me a private message, I can send you a copy of the document.

I went a couple rounds with the tax department on this last year and finally gave. I was told they no longer issue these documents to stakes. However, your need is different than mine so it might be worth a call to the tax departments.

the irs publishes ALL 501(c)(3) organizations in pub 78. it will be sufficient for many purposes to point anyone with a need to verify to that publication. an online searchable version is maintained here:

Use the IRS link in geowizrds post and do a search for EIN 870234341 (which I pulled out of the URL above.
