iOS Safari = Spinning Ball, Nevers Loads Page

#1

Post by KehrerRL »

Device: iPhone 6S Plus 128GB, iPad 4th Gen
OS: iOS 9.3.2
Browser: Safari, (It works in Chrome on iOS)
Connection: LDA Access Wireless OR ATT LTE Cell

Unexpected Behavior:
The Lesson Schedules app never loads. The page header and footer load and then hangs on load of Lesson Schedules with an endlessly spinning wait circle.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Log into LDS.org with iOS Safari
2) Go to Lesson Schedules

Notes:
Since a very significant percentage of the members and leaders of our ward, and I suspect other wards, rely on iOS devices on Sunday and use them as principle computing devices throughout the week - AND- since iOS Safari is by far the most widely used browser on these devices, I would have expected that this specific bug would have been prioritized VERY high into the first available engineering sprint. I'm shocked that it has been allowed to persist for months.

Do you have private browsing turned off?

I guess I didn't. I never noticed it before, but indeed my header was black and private browsing was on. I turned it off and it works fine.
Thanks for the solution.

Instructions for turning private browsing on or off, for Safari on iOS, can be found here:
