the spouse that passed away is NOT shown as head of household (his wife who is the member shows as her the head of household).
when i try to bring his name up, it will only bring her name up. how do i go about removing his name now that he has passed away?

You need to terminate the marriage for the member with death as the reason for termination. In LCR find the member's profile, select the Family tab, click on the pencil icon to the right of the marriage information and then click the Change Marriage Status button.
