Stake wide technology training

#1

Post by zumakyle »

I have been given permission to do a stake wide training for all the units on how to better use tech in their buildings. I live in Kentucky and the stake is about a 2 hour drive north to south. We just started to use the webcast tool for conference. This last spring was the first one publicized. I have been using webcasting for firesides for about a year and have come to the conclusion that there is a lack of knowledge.

I would like to know if anyone has materials and agendas already for prepared for such training. I was hoping to cover set up for various broadcasts. Full equipment training. And maybe even get into using tech in Sunday lessons.

Please post here or feel free to email me anything at zumakyle@gmail.com

Thanks for your help!

In my experience not every stake is exactly the same. Probably the most common component is the sound system. There are some church training videos on crab boxes, but the most effective training so far has been hands on training, with those that would use them.

I'm sure you already have seen all the videos here, but I'll post a link anyways:

If you have other techies or tech-savvy people in the stake who can help train, you might consider doing a workshop-style training; that is, set aside two hours or so and have multiple "classes" that people can choose from, in three or four time blocks...

The Phoenix LDSTech Chapter has conducted church technology seminars (post) and fairs similar to what was mentioned for stakes in the Phoenix/Mesa/Gilbert areas (Beehive Newspaper article).

The training and organization material was collected and saved, so it may be of benefit to someone desiring to put on their own technology fair.

Anyone is welcome to use it.

Just send me a Personal Message for access to the DropBox link.

I am the STS and I tried to send a personal message to get some more training information and I get a message saying I am not authorized that function? What permissions do I need and how do I update my profile?

What link were you trying to use?

I'm not aware of much training outside of the help articles in the Help Center

Sorry. It wasn't you. I have referred your request to an administrator who should be able to sort it out in the next day or so. In the meantime, I have sent you a PM. Please let me know here if you were able to access it. (You will not be able to respond to it just yet.)

I think the problem is that jwunsch300 is a "new user" and as such doesn't have the rights to send a PM.

Try now.
