Posting Ward Event Photos on Facebook Pages

#1

Post by richardcshipp »

Our ward has two Facebook pages, one of which is an EVENTS page. I am one of the Admins. (See it at: http://www.Facebook.com/Groups/WindsorThirdWard/ ) Our page was set up as a Public Group.

Our Bishop's policy is that no photos of members can be posted without their written permission. This basically precludes almost all photos from being posted due to logistics. For instance: if you took a photo of everyone in the cultural hall for a ward dance; a Christmas dinner; a YM or YW activity up the canyon; etc. It would be unwieldy to have everyone in the photo sign release forms!

Many wards are using Facebook and posting activity photos. I note that their pages are set up as "Friends of (name of ward here)" and are designated as Closed Groups.

What are the restrictions of wards posting photos on Facebook pages? As I say, many wards on the internet (using Closed Groups in Facebook) are posting a lot of activity photos.

Thanks for your help.

The guidelines can be found at http://internet.lds.org. Note item #6. Your ward is doing that correctly.
