I am a Student at SUU currently working on getting my bachelors in Computer Science, I woud love to have a job in the church, to gain experience, and open doors to more job opportunities with the church in the future.
If you have any more information regarding opportunities to work for the church or contribute in some way while I attend school, that would be most appreciated.
I read your post that you have already hired one person and will hire people for other positions later when you move to Riverton..
I would be interested in the Personal Technology Specialist postion, if it's still open. Let me know if and when I can apply thanks.

I don't think you caught the fact that they are part-time service missions, not part-time employment.TrevorD wrote:I am a Student at SUU currently working on getting my bachelors in Computer Science, I woud love to have a job in the church, to gain experience, and open doors to more job opportunities with the church in the future.

VDI as potential solution to match up remote workers
Great thread - I was doing some thinking. VDI would be a great solution for the Church to enable long term sustainable access to a controlled environment to keep data in-house, yet extend the reach of potential technical mission help to areas of the world. Yes you have to figure out bandwidth and their internet connection, but a strong assumption would be if you are looking for technical help - those people are already setup with a high speed internet at home and a computer to access.
With those 2 technical items in place a VDI instance could be accessed over the internet to give an 'in-house' desktop environment with the needed tools installed etc..
Just a thought - and wanted to share, I strategized a similar architecture for the company I work for.

very interested, cannot travel to SLC on a regular basis
I feel well-qualified for the Personal Technology Specialist (personally and professionally), but cannot reliably travel to SLC on a regular basis. Any chance the in-person portion could be done via video chat like services?
