Lds member tools appears to be randomly accessing members photos and up,paring them to the app for identification.
My understanding is that this would be a clear breach of privacy laws unless the member has given explicit permission.
How is this rectified. I have looked on the app in settings etc and there doesn’t seem to be an option to turn off the app accessing photos.
This is very very poor.

I don't quite understand what's going on. There are some who hold callings that allow uploading photos of other members, but I don't think anyone can upload a photo of anyone else outside of their family.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Re: App accessing photos/deleting photos and privacy settings
Member Tools does not automatically upload photos. A member can, however, use the app to take a photo or choose a photo from their device photo library, and upload that photo to their membership record or the membership record of someone in their household. A clerk or bishopric member can also upload photos for members of their ward, but they are not supposed to without permission from the member.
What are you seeing in the app that leads you to believe that photos are being uploaded automatically and without permission? Do you have a photo of yourself on Member Tools that you didn't add?
