Starting a new topic

The request makes sense to me. However, how do we start a new thread instead of a new topic?

Each thread, by design, is to include only one topic. This makes it easier for others trying to follow the topic of interest to them without the "forked" topics adding to the 'haze' of understanding what is being discussed.

If you are reading a forum thread and want to address a related subject matter, but will fork the current thread topic, just click the forum title at the top of the page. For example, this thread is in the Gospel Living App forum. The bread crumb trail to this forum is "Forum < Church Technology for Members < Mobile Applications < Gospel Living App. When at the forum page click the NEW TOPIC button to start a new thread. You provide the thread/topic title and post as usual. If needed, you can link back to any other thread. This helps to avoid forking a related but different topic thread.

Sorry, I feel confused. :? 1) To create a new thread, instead of a new topic, I click the NEW TOPIC button on the forum page? 2) How did the original post in this chain become a "new topic"?

New Topic = New Thread. Same idea.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

I split your post from the Quorum specialists missing in presidency circle? topic/thread since your topic is different from the other thread topic.

I'm probably suffering from a lack of sleep. :( It seemed to me like this moderator reminder was directed at the mkpolansky post. Are we saying it was in response to something I posted?

I am sorry about the confusion. The OP to this thread was the post that was split. I should have said "I split mkpolansky's post. I then answered your post asking:

Both russellhltn and I tried to explain that a new thread is the same as a new topic because there should be only one topic in a thread. The confusion that has resulted is a consequence of forking a thread - because your question is a different topic and it should have been a new thread/topic. My mistake was not paying attention to who was asking the question and answering it without splitting your question from this thread into a new thread.

And to make the circle (pun intended) complete, I've split off the starting a new thread into a new thread....

At the risk of starting a new topic , I'd love some insights on how I get the image link to work for sizing in this forum . . .
