Scheduling a broadcast

Post by kreeve »

Looking for advice.

When you schedule your web broadcast event using the Church's portal, for say a Stake Conference that starts at 10:00 AM, do you schedule the event for 10AM or do you schedule it earlier so you can start the stream say a couple of minutes before 10 to make sure it does work?

Our YSA Stake only has 1 building supporting 8 wards so we have not streamed a Stake Conference ever, however in November it will be a virtual Stake Conference.

10 AM. The servers will start up at an hour before that at 9 AM (If the event is marked as a test, they'll start about 10-15 minutes before hand).

Agreed - if you schedule it for a different time - it can confuse members of the ward/stake - especially if you have multiple wards/events scheduled each Sunday.

As long as you do proper testing before hand, the 1 hour "Pre Event Buffer" is more than enough to get everything up and running before the event starts.

Note: If you are doing testing and schedule a "test event" you will only get a 15 minute pre-event buffer.
