Membership record with duplicate child's name

#1

Post by innesa »

Recently the child of convert parents was baptised. His name originally recorded on his parents membership record omitted his middle name. He was baptised under his full name (including his middle name).
I have tried to delete his name that does not include his middle name from the parents' membership records. MLS will not let me. How can this problem be resolved?

Unless someone has a better suggestion, you may have to use "special request" and explain what needs to be done.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Did you try to delete it in LCR? Does that name show up as a non-member in LCR?

Which raises some questions. Quite frequently with convert families, the child will be noted on the parent's records but no "child of record" will be created. (Which causes them to be missing from primary rolls, ward directory, reports, etc.)

If a "child of record" was created, then most likely, you now have a duplicate record. There should be an option for dealing with duplicate records.
It might be under the delete option (reason: duplicate).

If there is no child of record, then I'd think you should be able to delete them off the parent's records (make sure to check both parents).
