Links for Tabernacle Choir Videos

#1

Post by rgrich »

Our stake (probably like yours) is allowing wards to stream sacrament meetings during the pandemic. We try to have prelude music available for the first 20 minutes or so, and have been using Music and the Spoken Word from the prior week. Our stake leaders have encouraged us to use Hymns rather than Music and the Spoken Word. However, trying to find Hymns from the Tabernacle Choir is a little more challenging. I'm confident the church has recordings of the Choir performing the hymns somewhere. Is there a link a technology specialist can use to either reference or download some of these church produced videos of the Choir? It would allow us to produce a prelude video that would follow our stake leaders guidelines.

We just play the music, instead of using videos.

5 or 6 hundred conference performances to choose from. Some are in lesser quality bitrate and some have voiceover announcements, but I think we were still left with around 300 once we had deleted those not usable.

We were going for a little better experience, of a tabernacle choir performance of a hymn. That way the folks at home would see something more than a static screen. We just wanted to engage them a little more. I suppose I could add my own video over the top of the music, but the goal here was to make it easier and faster to produce, not create a new and bigger workload. Is there a contact at Church Broadcasting that might have a download site? Is there a spot in the Media library I'm missing?

The media app does allow downloading video performances of the Tabernacle choir.

I gave up on researching this as we were advised by the area technology specialists that our area presidency counselled to keep everything as simple as possible with as little production as we can.

Your local direction may be different.

During prelude we just have the camera showing a wide shot of the chapel filling up, members at home quite like feeling the connection and seeing some faces that they haven't seen in some time.

When the meeting begins we frame the stand and pulpit with the camera.

We have one ward ATS that plays 30-40 minutes of pre-recorded music, inspirational talks, etc. before and after their worship service. Upon studying the analytics, it appears that very few viewers take advantage of his efforts.

I agree with Wattsuk, simple is better. Starting the webcast when the local prelude music begins offers viewers a good experience of "being there".
So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

I agree with the keep it simple philosophy. But if you really wish to use Tabernacle Choir videos from General Conference broadcasts, see this post. And be sure to note that the link to the actual list of conference hymns has been changed as shown in this post.
