Did you automatically transfer everything from your old device? If so, you could try deleting and reinstalling Gospel Library (sometimes automatic system transfers don't correctly transfer all of an app's data).

SOLVED: for almost 9 months I've been dealing with this problem as it got worse and worse and worse. At first opening the app would only occasionally show the white screen for a short time before crashing. It seemed to be happening more and more often until at about 7, 8, & 9 months it was happening so often it was now a fight to get the app to open and actually show anything except a white screen. Even all my work arounds were failing- (trying to open the app from a safari, chrome search, or a text link with a shared verse). This was a disaster for my class preparation with a new calling, so on my day off today I dug in for hours to figure out the fix if there was one or if one could be found. After following church tech forum suggestions to close other apps, and resetting the phone (which I'd been trying as a fix for months and months), I started doing what most people try to do (thinking it would help), making more space on the phone by going through and getting rid of big space takers like videos, audio and pictures. I took another step that also wasn't the solution but most people undoubtedly try- I updated my phone's software, also not effective. The solution came from an insight I read on a reddit forum about gospel library trying to load the entire catalog when the app is opening. Considering this, and that the app opened up immediately on my chrome book, I realized that though I initially thought that this meant my phone, phone settings, or space was the problem, it was that what I had downloaded from the Gospel Library catalog to my phone (wanting to have easy on hand access without downloading media later) was too much for the iphone to load and succeed in opening the app at the same time. I didn't realize this til I got the app to load luckily after hours and hours of troubleshooting. And I figured out how to do that with a bloated amount of downloads the catalog within the app had to open. Here's why it took me forever. Every time you close the app to reattempt a reopening, the process to load all the pre-downloaded (in-app) media content in the catalog starts over.

So here's the fix... and it's going to take some patience at first to get into the app, afterward it will be smooth sailing. You can close other apps if you want too (I would as it gives all processing power to what your trying to do- load a mega ton of too much info downloaded within the app), attempt to open the app and then leave it alone even after it goes white screen and appears to crash. Just don't touch it for a while. It may not seem like it but the app is still working in the background to load the catalog, you can tell by double clicking your iPhone button and see what previously appeared to crash is still there, so don't mess with it, just be patient. Depending on how much you've downloaded within the app you may be waiting for a while, but I don't think beyond 15 to 20 minutes. Here's the problem that jams most people up I imagine at this point. Do not select the app to open it again, my thinking is that this restarts the long failed re-opening process. Instead, with everything loaded and the app running in the background, open safari, chrome, or a text where you've shared scripture or other link. Link from the text or from your browser choice search a scripture verse you know with the text lds. When the browser search completes- link to the scripture, and wait. You may have to do this a few times as well, but the thinking is you're accessing an already open app that has (hopefully finished) loading everything instead of short circuiting the process of reopening the app. Once you get into your Gospel Library, open a new screen, scroll down to "videos and images", select "edit", select everything, then select remove at the bottom of the screen (don't worry, they'll be there to download whatever you want or need later- the media is host not client side). After this my app loads almost lightning quick. Now you might say but there's videos and images I want easy access and I don't want to go through all the trouble of re-downloading them. Well that's your choice, but to those of you arguing that I would say you're not getting any use out of your app on your phone at present and it's not like you don't have access to the videos you just have to wait for a video each time you use it. That or be more selective in your video downloads and not so "I gotta have it all for convenience" like I was before. If this hasn't worked, you may need to consider the audio stored from the general conference sessions if you've downloaded all those for convenience too, which I also removed anything prior to 2000. If you've done all this to this point, all you and I will have to do to obtain those video an audio files is wait a little longer at the moment we actually need them, or again be more selective of media needed for a lesson and remember to remove it after using it to keep the app running ship shape and fast.

Hope this helps any who've been struggling to get their Gospel Library apps to open. Post a reply if it works to help give confidence to others who are still (like I was for a while) hopelessly looking for a solution.

I have tried rebooting, reinstalling the app, opening the app from the App Store. No luck. I have plenty of capacity so this shouldn’t be an issue either. All other apps open just fine.
Just my belief that the app catalog has problems opening when too much media has been downloaded within the app. Took me nine months for my device to finally use the app properly. I left a long descriptive post, but I'll give the cliff notes for how I fixed this on my iphone.
-Close all apps
-Attempt opening Gospel Library app
-Wait 15 to 20 (or more depending on how much in app media has been downloaded) minutes.
-Do not re-open app as it risks restarting the long reloading process
--Instead open a browser window. Search a scripture and the letters lds.
-Link the scripture to "access" (not re-open an already open and loaded app) Gospel Library which might appear to have crashed but most likely just loading in the background. (May need to do a few times without closing the Gospel Library app.
-Go to "Videos and Images"
-Select Edit in top right corner
-Select all videos, or all previously downloaded
-Select remove from bottom left of screen (removes from device, still available to re-select and re-download later if desired)
-Consider removing some older downloaded general conference files in same manner if audio files are bloating the catalog when it's trying but failing to open.
-Close and reload app
-If it works- do a happy dance! And download less media to the device as it's likely not the space your device has that is the problem but the amount of loading the app has to do when it's opened. Personally I've just been more selective of my media and delete what I don't need after I've used it.

Not sure if this a good solution for you but I hope it helps! God Bless!

My gospel library app won't open. It has been working for months without any problems on my MacBook Air. I have 175 GB of open memory. Then I try to open it, a new screen appears and says that the app "closed unexpectedly" and that it will send the information to Apple. I've tried closing all the apps, emptying the trash, deleting photos and reloading the Gospel Library App. Nothing has helped yet. I've read the above posts and can't seem to find where I can delete videos that I've downloaded within the Gospel Library app since I can't get into it. When it says to link a scripture to "access", I have no idea what to do. Please help!

Does reinstalling delete the cached files and app data? If not, you might try clearing those instead of reinstalling.

I've tried deleting the app and then reinstalling and I get the same message about it "closed unexpectedly". Any other suggestions?

I'd recommend sending feedback to gospelstudyapp@gmail.com. Make sure you include information about which operating system version you're on and which version of the app you have installed. (If you're able to send feedback through the app, that information is automatically attached, but if you can't launch the app, sending email is the next best way to reach the Gospel Library support team.)

I was experiencing the same issue on a MacBook Pro M1. The gospel library app worked fine until version 6.0.0 was released. Tonight I upgraded to macOS Monterey and the app works fine. I deleted gospel library prior to the OS upgrade, not sure if makes a difference but sharing the process I followed.
