Emedded LIve Video using Youtube

#1

Post by jsorens6 »

I thought I saw a comment on here that someone was using an embedded youtube link on a page like google sites, or something similar to have their broadcast taken off of youtube and remove those potential distractions. I can't find it now, so I could be wrong. I've tried doing this using google sites and jot form but haven't been able to embed our link and allow for it to be taken full screen.

Anyone doing this?

Here's a normal youtube link with the distractions

Here's the same youtube link without the distractions

Here's a google SITES webpage where the links are used to get to unpublished videos. There's contact information at the bottom if you want to know more about the site.

Thanks. I guess what I'm trying to do is impossible. We are transitioning off of the webcasting system with a teradek vidiu over to Youtube. I'm trying to make it as close to as simple as it was with webcasting.

1) Schedule the livestreams in Youtube ahead of time (really wish a recurring function was an option!)
2) Someone starts the broadcast each week on the teradek
3) Someone ends the broadcast each week on the teradek

I've got that part down fine.

I want to send a link out to a google form that collects name and attendance data and then points them to the youtube livestream embedded on a page. The trick with this is that I don't want to have to reprogram that link every week. I want it to point straight to whatever the current live feed is. That seems to be the hang up.

Well nevermind! I think I just figured it out. This link seems to work the way I want:

https://youtube.com/embed/live_stream?channel=enter channel id here

If I put in my channel ID after the equal sign then it takes the sure to page just showing the upcoming scheduled live feed and nothing else.

Thanks for sharing those links, that helped get the ideas flowing!

That last bit is easy enough.

Go to YouTube.com

Click “View your channel” and select the appropriate channel

Go to youtube.com/account_advanced

Copy your Channel ID shown below

Now, type in youtube.com/channel/PASTE YOUR CHANNEL ID HERE/live

The /live part at the end of the link is the key part!
