CDOL unavailable
Re: CDOL unavailable
There is a solution coming soon? Second coming soon or a few weeks soon?
Re: CDOL unavailable
Well, since I do not exactly know when the Second Coming will take place . . . [grin]
CDOL has always required a login and password and contains sensitive information that is only intended to be available to certain leaders. In another topic it was said that CDOL is being moved from being a public facing site into the Leader and Clerk Resources area. That would provide validation of the current calling held by the person desiring to access the resource.
I have a login and password from a long time ago when I served in a calling that clearly needed access to the information. As much as I would like to be able to continue using CDOL, I am wondering whether my current calling really requires it. I expect I will know how the Church feels about that very soon.
In another forum topic, a Church employee mentioned that the change is being made as quickly as possible. Since that post, there was the general conference hiatus, along with the meltdown of several other key tools including LCR/F, Membership, the quarterly report, MLS, the patriarchal blessing system, and I am not in the know about what else or how extensive the problem was. But I am certain it is taking time away from establishing a new home for CDOL in LCR.
While I cannot speak for headquarters, I am sure they realize that a lot of phone calls from bishops, clerks, and other priesthood leaders will go away as soon as they make it available again. My guess is that the timeline will be closer to weeks, rather than that wonderful date in the future where we may not even need computers at all.
Again, just my opinion. I have no real insight. I just know that a lot of folks hope it happens soon.

Re: CDOL unavailable
I think the issue is that CDOL required older resourced that are being retired. It was one of the few things that still seemed to use "lds.org". You've always had to have the right calling to get in CDOL.lajackson wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 7:54 pm CDOL has always required a login and password and contains sensitive information that is only intended to be available to certain leaders. Re: CDOL unavailable
Lesson being, if we find something working.... "shhhh, don't tell anyone or they'll fix the glitch!"It was accidentally exposed and has been closed again.

Seriously though, I am very sympathetic to the developers who must be overwhelmed with trying to keep track of all the different issues that keep popping up.
Re: CDOL unavailable
First off - I never considered CDOL to be publicly available, it came as a phonebook/directory for individuals with callings that required them to be able to contact others in leadership positions - I had access as a Church Service Missionary at the Global Service Center in SLC. I'm confused to see that someone just a few days ago were able to access it through churchofjesuschrist.org - is there anybody that can give an authoritative answer with respect to if or when it will become available again, even if in a different reincarnation - Easter is after all the time for resurrection, and as a newly called Stake Technology Specialist, I really need to be able to contact those I serve (Bishops etc. - who in my case don't always list their contact information in the public directory available to all members), and reach out to resources to enable me to help. And as an aside - I've spent hours trying to reconfigure my network/proxy/antivirus, because of the misleading error information given when you tried to access it. It isn't what I (after 25+ years with IBM) would call a smooth roll-out of a replacement product.

Church Directory of Leaders not Accessible
This website has not been accessible for nearly three weeks. Very difficult to coordinate with other leaders regarding member issues - especially for YSA members.
Re: CDOL unavailable
The GSD has access. You can call them to get the information you need for now.

Re: CDOL unavailable
The original plan was for a replacement to become available in LCR at some unknown future time. But CDOL seems to have been turned back on. From what I've heard - deliberately.
