Using more of LCR instead of MLS
I know that almost everything has switched over to LCR from MLS. I know that some of the Counselors in the Bishopric don't even get in MLS anymore. As a Ward Clerk, I still get into MLS just to update /transmit information and when membership records get moved in or is changed (due to a new ordinance or child of record or whatever the case may be) then of course when you transmit and you receive those records it prints them out. If I did not get into MLS then I might not know/see those records because they are not brought to my attention in LCR as they are in MLS. The Bishop was surprised that I still get into MLS, but I do it just for that reason (records being updated/changed or moved in). Is there something I am missing concerning it?

Re: Using more of LCR instead of MLS
LCR has a report of members moved in that will give you a list of members recently moved in. The old MLS approach of printing records gives you a little more of a "push" notification, but you can get the same thing from LCR if you check the report.
There isn't anything in LCR that shows which records have changed, although any significant changes (except for temple ordinances) should be something that you entered as a clerk.
We have wards in our stake that haven't opened MLS in well over a year. For a couple of newer wards, they have never opened MLS and didn't even bother creating user accounts.
I don't think it is worth getting into MLS, but you can keep running through transmit/receive cycles if you feel that the record change reports are important.

So, as a stake tech specialist:
* Is there any reason at all left to keep MLS installed on the ward computers?
* Are there any functions left that are exclusive to MLS?
* Might it be worth the time to just go around through the wards and remove it from the computers?

This post says that if you are in the United States MLS is no longer needed for any reason. You may wish to read the other posts in that topic as well and decide for yourself, with a call to the Global Services Department if you wish to confirm.sjstringham wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 12:50 pm So, as a stake tech specialist:

I would not take the time to travel around my expansive stake just to remove MLS. I would just let it die and not install it again when new computers arrive on the scheduled replacement plan.
