Recently, the ICS (Information and Communication Services) department modified our work locations to a role base system. This means about 67% of technical roles within the ICS are now fully remote work from home.

Job Description

Purposes

This is a professional, specialist position that provides complex support for network operations by designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting new and existing networks. The Network Engineer 3 role is key to the crucial collaboration needed across technical disciplines and the communication of the current state to management. In addition, this role is designed to interface directly with product management and design engineering to provide key operational and design feedback targeted at stabilizing and improving the delivery of services.

This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel.

Responsibilities
Design, document, configure, implement, test, and validate network monitoring and support system solutions

Match customer requirements to solution

Evaluate vendor designs

Design a final solution

Define capacity management plan

Create and respond to problem records, service requests, and troubleshoot incidents

Deploy upgrades

Plan and initiate maintenance windows

Coordinate with implementation teams

Maintain and provide feedback regarding network/systems management tools

Data center network, campus network, and field network support

Participate in and provide training

Provide operational feedback to the product manager

Identify and recommend monitoring enhancements

Decommission equipment and perform site evaluations

Validate established system health checks, standards, and best practices

Participate in P1 and technical peer reviews

This position will be required to take on additional specialized assignments as required to assist with specific projects and initiatives such as:

Application-based firewall conversion

IPAM refresh and upgrades

Datacenter and Campus refresh

Research and testing of future Monitoring solutions for the network space

This position will need to be flexible as some of the assignments could require movement between other network teams.

Qualifications
Required:
Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience


Work Experience:

8+ years of enterprise experience

5+ years of relevant experience in either network operations or network design


Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:

Ability to troubleshoot complex problems

Proficient with monitoring technologies

Basic knowledge of one or more scripting languages

Proficient knowledge in automation and system integration

Advanced level knowledge in most of the following areas:

Routing and switching

Wireless technologies

Data center infrastructure

Firewall and VPN

Load balancing and high availability

Network security best practices

Expert knowledge of firewall principles and ACLs

Solid understanding of network management tools

Extensive hands-on design experience with network routing and switching devices at all levels

Ability to respond to and generate audit reports regarding Wireless and other network technologies

Solid understanding of networking technologies/concepts

Acceleration devices in multiple remote offices, large campus environments, or data center facilities

Creative thinking regarding traffic analysis and quality of service

Ability to create network design drawings, functionality descriptions, operating instructions, troubleshooting guides

Great interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal

Enterprise collaboration skills and experience

Understand business problems, enterprise process governance, and articulate potential technical solutions

This job operates in a professional office environment

To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment


Specific Degrees, Certifications, Licenses:

Professional networking certifications required


Preferred:

Executive-level communication experience

Working experience with ACS, Voyence, NetQoS, SolarWinds Orion

Cisco DevNet Certification or equivalent
