Should Ward Auxiliary Leaders (EQ, RS, Primary, Youth Leaders) need to know their current allocated budget?

Hello everyone!

We moved to a Branch that totally needs a lot of rebuilding its leaders and where Church policies must strictly adhere. To give you a quick rundown of why I am needing some insight is because when I served as a Young Men's President for quite some time. I oversee the allocated budget intended for the quarter with my Bishopric's guidance with a detailed amount posted on a confidential folder that can only be seen by requesting access to it.

So my question is, are there updates this 2021 - 2022 that the budget allocated for each organization isn't disclosed any longer? Or just that our Branch needs to know that?

The budget allocated to an organization as well as the current balance and the list of expenses charged against the budget are all available to the organization presidency (including the secretary) in LCR by select Finance > Budget. Leaders can only see their own budget unless the clerk has configured things so they can view other categories.

General Handbook, 34.6, provides guidance on the budget. There is no mention of holding the allocation for each organization and the expenditures against that allocation confidential and restricted. It is the discretion of the Bishop/Branch President as to how he manages the unit budget within the guidelines provided in the General Handbook. While the responsibility for the budget rests with the Bishop/Branch President, he has been provided with leaders as outlined in the General Handbook to assist him. Additionally each organization presidency has access to Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) and the Finance > Budget section. The information in that section has information tailored for the organization that includes the organization budget and budget balance. Some customization of access to information for the organization presidency is possible through the 'Assign Budget' and 'Manage Categories' tabs in LCR > Finance > Budget. But it is not possible to restrict access to organization presidencies from LCR or the access they have to the Budget section.

Some helpful guidance regarding managing the budget and unit expenses is found in the Help Center section 'Finances'. More specific to your questions regarding budget management and budget expenses may be found in the Finance > Budgets > Organization Budget Management section articles Local Unit Budget Instructions for Organization Leaders and Payment Request Instructions for Organization Leaders. Additional information and local guidance is available through your stake clerk. If necessary, your branch president may seek counsel from your stake president.
