Zoom Webinar / YouTube Stream / disable chat

#1

Post by Attila »

Our next Stake Conference will be broadcast with Zoom Webinar. The Webinar platform only allows 500 participants though, so any overflow will be directed to the YouTube live stream link. What I've found though is that the YouTube steam has chat available. I'd like to turn the chat off since it can be distracting and I don't want to moderate it. I found how to turn off comments, but not chat. Any one else dealt with this?

"You can turn live chat on or off at any time, even after the event has started.

From the top right, click Edit and then Live Chat and then Enable live chat."

Yeah, I saw that link. Unfortunately there is no "Edit" control available. I'm hoping someone has come across the same issue and found a solution.

Ok, i've just simulated it my end to try myself.

The previous instructions must be outdated as you're correct, no option there.

I've tried a few things and did manage to disable chat.

Best way I found is as follows.

1. Make sure you are signed into the ward/stake youtube account and not your own personal one.

2. Click the button titled Edit Video underneath the share/clip/save bar

3. Scroll down the video details page to the audience section and select the option for "made for kids"

4. Click the save button, go back and refresh the live stream page and the chat should be disabled now.

Good luck!

Be careful when marking videos as "Made for Kids" in YouTube, as that might have other implications. See Determining if your content is "made for kids"

This link should help...
https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/161805

When creating a ward or stake account, select "To manage my business."
So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.
