Research last callings held

In an effort to understand, is there a mechanism in place that you are able to tell what callings a member has held during their life? In areas of the Church where the numbers may not be as plentiful, it helps to have a list to use as a factor for callings considered. We have seen frequently that some people are called to serve in a leadership position multiple times. An example being whether someone has previously served as a bishop or relief society president, and so forth. Granted, regardless of someone has held a position previously, if the Lord wants them there again, he will make it happen. We have a general pondering in our bishopric about whether calling a newer individual to a position versus calling someone that possesses more abilities to magnify the stewardship better and perhaps train up a counselor to eventual replace them. Curious on how others may do that in their respective leadership councils!

There's limited history in CDOL for people who currently hold callings.

It depends on the situation, but I have done both, following the promptings of the Spirit. Sometimes it is better to have a more experienced person in a calling who is able to train someone else. Sometimes those serving are strong enough to help a newer person succeed.

As a bishop or branch president, I also asked every member where they had served in the past, and kept notes. But the key was always to seek and listen to the Spirit.

You can see if they've been a Bishop before by checking their ordinances to see if they've previously been ordained as a Bishop.
Apart from that, as russellhltn said, there is limited information in CDOL. At the stake level, I can only see previous leadership (and leadership adjacent like clerk, exec sec) callings within the stake, not ones held outside the stake etc.

If you know previous stake and ward you can look up some of it using the historic information on CDOL if they were in major bishoprics or stake presidencies and some of the HC stuff.

Wouldn't it simply be easier to interview and learn as the members move into the ward or stake?
