Do we request a stop payment for a check that has been outstanding for 'x' number of days?

We issued a fast offerings check to help with medical bills a month ago and it still hasn't cleared. Is there a policy where we would put a stop payment on the check after so many days? I found a post (link below) that had some info, but the post is 10 years old and I'm not sure if it's current.

Fast offering checks follow the same guidelines to prevent escheatment as other expense checks ( (ref: Outstanding Checks and Escheatment). While the help article mentions MLS, the same procedures apply to LCR Finance. You should continue to try and determine the disposition of the check since the FO situation will be exacerbated by a late payment. Since there is also a beneficiary involved, you should also communicate with them about the outstanding check to see what they know or can do to assist in determining the check status. You may get further instruction from the Global Service Department (GSD) if you feel it necessary to void the check and reissue based on the FO assistance need for the beneficiary.

As jdlessley indicated you should first try to find out about the check status with the payee and the recipient. If you find that the check cannot be found then you can void the check in LCR by finding the expense in the Expense Summary tab of the Finance > Expenses menu option, clicking on the reference number and then clicking the Void Payment button. This will also do a stop payment on the check. You can then reissue the check.
