Duplicate, but incorrect, emails about ward events.

#1

Post by docmagik »

This evening our ward's members were sent two reminder emails about a ward FHE event tomorrow night.

One went out at 7pm with the correct information, 24 hours prior to the event, from NOTIFICATIONS@churchofjesuschrist.org.

However, at 7:06 an almost identical email went out from notifications@esm.churchofjesuschrist.org, except this one listed the start time as 3am on Tuesday morning.

Looking at the ward calendar, there is no duplicate entry with that incorrect time.

Has anyone else experienced this or something like it?

That appears to be a remnant of the old system that's since been shutdown.

Apparently the new system failed to factor in GMT conversion for PST. That's been reported.

We have an individual that reported this to me today and says they have been receiving email form it for awhile. This one is for young women's and she doesn't have any young women. Like the post the start time was 2am. If this is from an old system how can they be deleted?

The calendar has no concept of "Young Women", it's just a label. There's three conditions for generating an email reminder: The scheduler checks to have an email sent, the user has set to allow the calendar to send reminders, the user has set that calendar to allow to send reminders.

The last two are not currently available in Calendar 4.0. I'm sure they'll be added back, but I have no idea as to the timeline. Since you say this has been "for awhile" and the new calendar has only been out a week, I'm guessing this is an issue inherited from the old calendar.

To the church tech department: Will you please solve this software issue. Members are receiving emails about calendared ward/branch events with incorrect times, typically 7 hours later than the actual calendared time. Very confusing to the members and totally defeats the purpose of the notification emails. GET IT FIXED!!

This is not the Church tech department. This is a user-to-user forum where technical issues are discussed and where many share experiences that help those who are not as familiar with technical software and other similar Church items. No one here is able to fix anything.

Be sure to send feedback through the link at the bottom of the Calendar page. That feedback goes directly to the developers.

As you read other topics here at the forum, you will discover that the developers are aware of this issue. The times you are seeing are GMT and the developers are working on the code that converts them to local time.
