Online Reimbursement Submissions

#1

Post by Mottzzz »

In our area, our process for submitting reimbursements is to email the receipts to a clerk email. However, some members are aware of the online submission through LCR. Does anyone else have a preference for this? In my opinion, the members submitting directly through LCR is a bit more problematic than a help. For one, members make mistakes. And two, they don't seem to have access to all of the accounts. So a YM/YW leader can only see YM/YW accounts and not the Joint Activity accounts. Which then makes work for me, which I would've been doing anyways. And this kind of stuff can cause more work later if something is overlooked and the wrong account is charged. Am I just being a grumpy old man about the online submission system?

There is a way in LCR-finance to allow access to leaders to other areas of finance for reimbursement, but like you say, that may just exacerbate errors. Unless you are dealing with leaders who tend to be 100% accurate and are computer savvy, it is better in my opinion to have the reimbursements emailed to a clerk for him to enter.

For those who feel brave and wish to allow leaders access to other subcategories for reimbursement, see budget>manage categories>add unit subcategory under the category you wish to allow more access to other budget subcategories for reimbursement.

Note that the online reimbursement functionality is only available to organization leaders, not any member in the ward. That might make it easier to provide training.

There is also the ability for organization presidencies to submit payment requests through Member Tools. An additional limitation with that method is that Member Tools currently only allows one attachment per payment request.

Another limitation is that member tools reimbursements frequently does not work or holds the information for a long time. Not recommended for anyone who wishes to be reimbursed on a prompt basis.

Stake financial clerk here. I much prefer that leaders e-mail me images of their documentation. If they use the LCR submission feature, and they make an error (not an uncommon occurrence), I am unable to edit the images, and I have to ask them to correct and resubmit.
