local website

#1

Post by catherinemurray »

Recently I was Called as Public Relation /Communication Specialist in my local branch in Scotland

For many years I have worked with the Local GOV Council as a volunteer and conduct courses helping local people in our community to be more self-sufficient Job skills/ technical skill/ and family History Courses.

Currently we have a partnership with the local gov council to teach ESOL ( English as a 2nd language) to Afghans and Ukraine's this was the beginning of a good relationship between our Church community and local gov / Afghan / Ukraine communities

My purpose in sharing this with you is that I have learned that a website is a vital communication platform where we can share with other organisation and gov organisations and those who live and work in our community about who we are

a Few of our offerings would include Self-Reliance--ESOL--- Bible/BOM studies- Youth Activities - menu "Find a Church" sunday services time, missionary portal, to name a few . most would be church related to help local community learn about us

All our local churches have websites expect us, my purpose is to seek insight on the path we should take

We have a domain scotlandlatterdaysaints.org

QUESTIONS

* can we use scotlandlatterdaysaints.org?? - local communities address us as Latter-Day Saints
* is it feasible to host our branch site with Intellectual Reserve Tech

Take a look at these resources that may answer this and other questions about member use of the Internet:
General Handbook, 38.8.20, Internet
internet.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

The references above state that "Members may not create websites, blogs, or social media accounts on behalf of the Church or to officially represent the Church and its views, doctrine, policies, and procedures." Having the church host your site would be contrary to this instruction. When following the guidelines and instructions in the references above I am sure you will be able to "coordinate the work of the Church, strengthen each other’s faith, and minister to people’s needs" in your calling.

This request is something that would need a discussion with your Area Office.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.
