Attendance roll

Post by blcoltharp »

It has been noticed that youth sunday school’s instructors do not have access to attendance rolls. What is the reasoning and how is attendance best kept?

Only clerks and organization presidencies are the ones with access to record attendance. We cannot tell you why. Only those who provide the programming direction to the ICS department, and who do not visit these forums, can give that. We can only speculate. Each unit will have to decide what works best. In my ward our Sunday School presidency manages that for all Sunday School attendance. They pass out paper attendance rosters at the beginning of the second block and then collect them at the end of the block and record the attendance when they can.

GHB 33.5.1 states that organization secretaries record the attendance (meaning recording it in LCR), so the SS Secretary would be my first choice, with the SS Presidency next, and the ward clerk also an option. The Primary finds itself in a similar situation. As jdlessley states, each org can determine what works best, whether that's the secretary walking around to the classes and taking the attendance, or using paper forms that teachers fill out and hand to the secretary.

I'm in a Sunday School presidents council right now with all of the ward presidents. Every one of them has requested to allow teachers to take attendance in the app for their classes for all classes EXCEPT adult Sunday School where there are too many people or unknown people. This is the only time they want to pass around a paper roll instead. It would be nice to have this feature.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, those who provide direction to the ICS department do not see these posts. Almost all Forum participants are "regular" Church members like yourself, with no special connection to the Church's IT team. The best way to get feedback like this into the Church's system, is to use the Feedback functionality available at the bottom of most Church webpages, or via the Tools app.

Has anyone notice or is currently having issues with posting attendance information. Our Primary Sec. (using an Android) can't seem to post updates. Being a Finance Clerk, I couldn't test it out, but told her I'd check the discussion/tech forums.

I’m not even seeing class and quorum attendance in the reports menu anymore? Can this no longer be entered via the app or did it get moved to a submenu somewhere?

My calling is bishop, so I’d think I would be able to see that report option?

I can still see the class and quorum attendance report, so I don't think it's been moved. I'd try logging out and logging back in again and see if the option comes back.

A data refresh will do the same as signing out and back in again. For Android systems that option is found in the Settings menu.
