Church Zoom Accounts with Seminary

#1

Post by skyrocket »

Hello all. I'm a recently called Stake Technology Specialist. I've recently rolled out Zoom accounts to all of the units in my stake. I was approached by a stake leader/seminary teacher a few days ago, asking about seminary and the church provided Zoom accounts. We have a fairly large stake and there are a good number of different seminary courses going in the morning. I'm aware that the church provided Zoom accounts provide the ability to have two concurrent meetings going at a time. However, we have more than two seminary courses. My question is, what would be the best way to allow for this to happen? What zoom accounts should we utilize? One of the ward accounts in the buildings that seminary is held in?

Thanks in advance, and I apologize for the scattered thoughts. I'll clarify further if my question doesn't make sense.

I believe that seminary is a CES program. If the wards were to make their accounts available to the seminaries, I'd think we would have gotten instructions along those lines. At the same time, I'd think access to Zoom would be administered though the seminary program.

I'd put the question to the S&I representative. You can look that up in cdol.lds.org. Find your stake, look under "Associated organizations", and look for "CES Program".

Nothing came of this. They said it wasn’t possible at the moment and the seminary teachers did their own thing.

Excellent to know. Thank you. It sounds like I will be justified in moving forward and creating recurring Seminary Zoom classes with the Stake Account then...

Our stake has 9 units. Each unit has a Zoom account. Each unit can have two concurrent Zoom meetings at the same time. This gives us up to 18 concurrent Zoom meetings at any one time. As the STS I created an email address for each unit which was used to register the Zoom accounts. This accounts email password was not shared with the units. I also created the Zoom accounts so I know all the Zoom passwords. These credentials are shared with each ward as well as the Seminary leadership. They can use these accounts as needed. Simple.
