First Four Generations Question

#1

Post by Hilohi »

On the Family History Activity Report, there's a First Four Generations of Ancestors in the Tree section. Does that section count any lineage that goes back four generations or does it only count if all of one's lineage goes back four generations? For example, if I had four generations on my dad's side (so up to his grandparents), but I didn't have four generations on my mom's side, would that still count under the First Four Generations of Ancestors in the Tree section?

aebrown's information in post # 13 of that topic thread addresses more of the OP's last question.

Thanks, guys!

For those who come across this post, the short answer is up to all eight great grandparents need to be included on one's family tree in order for it to count as four generations on the FAHR.

Thanks for trying to help, but that's not an accurate short answer. You get partial credit for each of your 15 four-generation people (yourself, 2 parents, 4 grandparents, and 8 great-grandparents). There's no "all or nothing" aspect to this statistic. If you have 12 of those 15 people, your portion of this statistic is 80%. Your portion (0% if you don't have an account, up to 100% if you have all 15 people) will be included in the ward's overall statistic.

All the details are in the linked posts.

For this example, you have 7 on your dad's side, 1 for yourself, and 1 for your mom (for simplicity, I'll assume that none of your mom's ancestors are in the Tree). That makes a total of 9 out of 15, so your portion of the statistic would be 60%.
