What are the responsabilities of the bishops 2 assistants

The bishop has 2 young men assistants. I cannot find in the blue manual what their responsibilities are. My bishop asked me what they are. Can someone help please?

I'd suggest going into the General Handbook, Section 10 "Aaronic Priesthood Quorums" and then searching for "assistant". It doesn't outline duties (other than meetings to attend), but does indicate some duties the Bishop can delegate to them.

I'd say it's largely "duties as assigned".

And I would say that a wise bishop would delegate as much to them as they can effectively handle. Give them good experience to lead as assistants to the President of the Priest's quorum.

I think the OP was referring to the 2 Priests who are called and set apart as the Bishop's First Assistant and the Bishop's Second Assistant. Their role is specifically with the Priest's quorum and not the same as the Bishop's Counselors who are High Priests with different roles.

Another consideration might be for the Bishop to engage with the parents in discussion about possible assignments. As the Church ideally supports parents and families, and with this particular calling being fairly open-ended, integrating the parents in this conversation would likely add helpful inspiration about what might be meaningful ways for these YM to assist the Bishop.

From GHI 10.1.3.3:

The bishop is the president of the priests quorum. He calls one or two quorum members to serve as his assistants.

From GHI 8.4:

A prospective elder is a male Church member who has not received the Melchizedek Priesthood and (1) is 19 or older or (2) is younger than 19 and married.

Seems to me a 20 year old would no longer be part of the priests quorum and therefore ineligible to be a bishop's assistant.

I think the first response in this thread, gives about as much official structure as you're going to find in the Handbook. Are you looking for this type of official documentation of roles? Or were you looking for ideas from others, regarding various types of responsibilities that different Bishops have assigned their Assistants?

If you explain a bit more, what you're looking for beyond the existing responses in this thread, you'll probably get some good additional input.
