Hello. Is there a way to see who moved membership records into the ward?
I’m looking for audit information as far a who edited or moved membership records. Is there a report that can show this?
Thank you.

This type of information is not available at the local level. You can call the GSD and make a case for getting this information on a case by case basis. My efforts in the past have been mixed and dependent on the need. For every situation where the record was moved by someone outside the ward all I got was the unit the record came from and not the person who moved the record.

In general it will either be one of a small handful of callings in your ward that can pull the record in, or that same small handful in the prior unit that can push the records in.

I believe that's:
- Bishop
- Ward Clerk
- Assistant Ward Clerk
- Assistant Ward Clerk - Membership

Re: See who moved records
The process changed a little over a year or so ago when they added the Finding Lost Members report. The first time a record is moved out to address unknown the member is put on the Finding Lost Members report. The members shown in this list are not counted as members of the ward and will not be included in any member list, report, or any statistical report. The member shows on the Finding Lost Members report with contact information and last known address. The member stays on the Finding Lost Members report until all the finding steps are completed in coordinated effort by the relief society presidency and elders quorum presidency and sent the last time with the bishop's approval to address unknown, or to another unit, or restored in the ward. My experience is that the record is not sent back to the ward unless there is confirmation by headquarters that the member is living at an address within the ward boundaries.russellhltn wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 10:50 am If the prior unit was "Address Unknown", then it could be Church Headquarters. If you move a record out to Address Unknown, they always send it back once to see if you found them.

Thanks for the update. I know for a while they'd automatically send it back after a delay which was quite annoying.

Re: See who moved records
If you do contact GSD, I'd suggest specifically mentioning the usefulness of having an audit trail visible at the local unit level (I have provided that feedback myself). I likewise have had cases where we've tried to determine who exactly moved records, when both the previous and new units are sure it wasn't them who pulled the trigger. Even if it was just the unit name (i.e., was it a "push" or a "pull") that would be helpful, but associated calling would be ideal. I doubt this will ever be made visible to local units, but at least if we keep asking, it may eventually happen.blairtingey wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 10:41 pm Hello.
