Restricting the transfer of membership records is called a move restriction and can be done online in Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR). A move restriction may be placed in order to prevent a membership record from moving out of the unit while Church membership council action is being considered, or if there is suspicion of welfare abuse or other serious concern. A move restriction may be placed or released only by the bishop, or the ward clerk with the bishop's authorization.
A move restriction is placed on a membership record by opening the record and clicking the "Actions" button and checking the "Move Restriction" check box.
