I just noticed that the calendars on the Unit websites can be used to schedule various resources such as a Mylar Bag Sealer.
Has anyone/Could this also be used to schedule the shifts for the Family History Center that is located in the building? Currently we use a paper calendar that sits on the desk at the FHC.
Thanks,

You sure can.
Of course, if it were to be a Stake resource, a Stake Admin
will need to set it up and assign an admin over that resource.
On a ward level, you can use resource calendar for things
such sign-ups for Missionary Exchanges (Splits) or Meals,
A seperate Scouting Calendar, or whatever else you can
think a communal calendar could be used for.
Two things to keep in mind:
1) Resource Calendars do not provide notification.
So it can't send out emails, and events will not
automatically show up on the summary of Ward
events on the front page of the website.
2) Resource Calendar Admins won't have full
admin rights. They will be able to admin the calendar
only, so you don't have to worry about them
"updating" other portions of the web page.

Great! I figured as much but thought I'd check here so that I appear to know what I'm talking about before I talk to the FHC director and Bishop about setting it up.atticusewig wrote: 2) Resource Calendar Admins won't have full

Thanks for the help!

To create a resource calendar:
1) Go into "Administrator Options".
2) On the left hand side, under "Resources" click "Add"
3) Enter the name and description of the resource to be managed.
4) Click "Submit"
The resource has been created.
To select admins of the resource:
1) Go into "Administrator Options"
2) On the left hand side, click "Add or Change Administrators"
3) Click on the Resource to be managed.
4) Under "Add a new administrator" there is a "Find" box to locate the member you wish to add.
To maintain the resource in admin mode:
1) Go into "Administrator Options"
2) Under "Resources" click "Maintain"
3) Click on the resource to be managed. A calendar will appear. The calendar is handled the same way as the main website calendar.
As far as I can tell, any website administrator can create a resource. However, only a Stake Admin can create a resourced that can be shared by more then one ward. (Such as a building schedule for a multi-ward building.) I noticed that nowhere does it say "Calendar" so that may be why your admin doesn't think he can create a resource calendar.
