I agree, unless the verification and data associated with "moved" households is not carried over to the final release. I seem to remember some discussion about certain changes not being held over from the NFS beta to the release version.

I won't be doing any major work on the beta maps unless this point is clarified.

I would use the maps to identify any addresses that are not plotted or grouped correctly and work to standardize those addresses. Since the data is going into MLS it will survive any changes to the mapping program.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

That's the question I have too. Before we go to the trouble of moving, updating, and verifiying adrresses, I want to know if this is like an nFS beta where changes to the data are wiped before going live, or an MLS beta where changes to the data are retained from the beta.

Darn, can't view the new beta maps site from the ward computer, as we've got IE 6. I rememer reading in the Help file that the minimum requirement for Internet Explorer is IE 7.

I've been using FF and it works just fine with the new Maps Beta.

BTW, there's currently an unpatched zero-day flaw in IE7. If you've got Internet access, you might want to think about jumping to IE 8. It works fine.

I'm not so sure I'll be doing any updating myself. Just a ward membership clerk and it appears we have the Desktop 5.5 image installed and that's pretty locked down.

This is not working for my credentials.
I just got a reply to my feedback that this is indeed a bug for membership clerks. They said it will be fixed in the next release of the site.

The help document says that when authenticated leaders download the geocoded file it can include the Member Record Number. I tried that. but the MRN was missing.

The reply to my bug report said:
We originally intended to include the MRN, but we were told to exclude it from the file download.
I certainly hope this is a temporary situation during the beta. It really will cripple the usefulness of the download for leaders and clerks if there is no unique key to relate these records to MLS records.

If LDS Account authentication cannot be trusted in this simple situation, that implies deeper problems going forward with lots of online applications.

In your e-mail did you mention that you were a clerk? The download is available to all members, so I can understand a reluctance to include the MRN in general. There would have to be a separate code path that includes the MRN for clerks and leaders, but not for regular members.
