I will not disable their account for an e-mail issue. I have requested an option as administrator to turn off their bad e-mail address so that I do not have to deal with the bounces.

Because I am not willing to disable the accounts, and because I cannot deal with the bounces, I simply do not use the LUWS e-mail broadcast system.

When it is fixed, I will begin using it.

For the record, the other reason I do not use the system is because there is no way to control the timing of the messages if we load next year's calendar all at once. Sending messages now for next October's activities is not worth even the electrons that would be disturbed. [grin]

All of these issues have been presented to the developers. We report. They decide. I exercise my agency.
I have to admit...I am blessed that I don't have as many as you do. Hmmm...that might be the best thing for me to do. Is obtain all the emails into my contact list on personal address and just keep out the ones that are bouncing and then send only the ones that do work...the calendar emails.

Hmmm...or just post it on the calendar but don't email anyone? Another good idea.

This option has been out of action for over 2 weeks. Presumably someone is working on the problem...

As you might have seen in the thread where you reported this problem, this post reports that the bug has been fixed and will be uploaded shortly.

Also, allow the picture to remain attached to a member's information if they change ward's. The new stake/ward clerk has to re-upload a member's picture if they move.

This is kind of annoying and makes for duplicate work everytime a member moves.

What I do is crop the photo first to get the people's faces, then resize it. It works much better that way, in my software anyway.

Also, we had some boundary changes and a new ward created earlier this year and for those that had photos on the ward webpage and got transferred to a new ward, their photos remained with them. For our members who have moved out of our stake, their photos disappear. So, if photos can remain if people move from ward to ward, but are still in the same stake, it seems like it could be fixed to where the photos remain with their records when they move out of the stake.

Talents and Interests can be tracked in MLS

My bishop now want's to get a list of all the talents and skills available in the ward in order to have a repository of this info when a ward member needs help (think welfare and service opportunities). This kind of list should be available securely online so ward leadership can take care of needs more immediately.
I have successfully implemented this information for our ward. You can see how I have used the existing infrastructure of MLS to create a Talents and Interests area. (We also track some useful resources) You can read that post here: http://tech.lds.org/forum/showthread.php?p=38155

But what about distribution?

#266

Post by rsmith06 »

I like the idea of using MLS for the central repository for talents and interests that are available in the ward to help those in need. It just makes a lot of sense. However, a lot of my ward's leadership commutes to work and may not have access to the list when they need it. My need is on the distribution side and not the repository side. I need a better distribution system. My initial thought would be to provide a new distribution channel through the local unit web site for the ward leadership. That way they can access the list whenever and wherever they need.

Additionally, the bishopric, executive secretary and clerks need a secure place where they can collaborate (track issues, share ideas, etc.) that doesn't require them to be in the same physical place.

Does anyone know of an official "feature request" page where we can post this? It's great for the end users to talk about, but it'd be better if some decision-makers heard about it. :)

Here's another thread with the same request....

http://tech.lds.org/forum/showthread.ph ... =repeating

Heard & captured. The developers building beta.lds.org/church-calendar will work on this sometime during the next few months. Thanks

Love this suggestion - its on our list - thanks
srweight wrote:If the member doesn’t have interest in or remember to come to the ward site then give them the option to have the ward website come to them.:)

Options would be under the User profile to make the LUWS proactive to member’s needs

The following are some suggestions;

Change Options
Please send me email notifications every week of
Option #1 - Changes in ward membership
Option #2 - Changes in ward leadership
Option #3 - News and Information postings to the ward website
Option #4 - The ward calendar for the next 6 weeks

Monthy Message Option
Please send me email notification with the Home Teaching / Visiting Teaching Message as soon as the Ensign is sent each month.

Gems Options
Please send me the following Gems
(list Gems to select)

Maginfy My Calling Options
My current calling in the church is (enter in a field or select from a look-up callings list). Please send me the related LDS.org information related to that calling.

(Example: I select “Sunday school teacher” and the website sends me via email the most likely lessons that I would use this week ( a range of 3 or 4 lessons would allow for conferences and the likes) and related items in the Church News or other information that I would use in presenting my lesson)

(Example: I select “ward clerk” and the website sends me via email information about MLS changes or help sections or updates.)

(Example: I select “Stake Tech Specialist” and the website sends me via email information about why I got the error message “Your stake is not participating in the online websites” and error message “You don’t have admin rights anymore”)

(Example: I select “Primary Presidency” and the website sends me via email information about the church’s open house for Primary Presidents.)

What are you asking for? This thread deals with the Unit Web Sites. Could you please clarify what you would like to see changed, and how it relates to Unit Web Sites?
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.
