MRN dropped from MLS exports?

#11

Post by RossEvans »

I have been trying to help a stake user of 3.3.0, who reports a serious problem with his Membership.csv export file: The Member Record Number column (MRN) is missing.

Is this by design, or is it a bug in 3.3.0? (Specifically, this stake user is running build 3.3.0_19113).

Does this bug (or design change) also affect Membership.csv in ward MLS? Will it propagate to the other major development fork, the upcoming 2.3.4?

In any case, this will be a big problem for users of the export files affected, because it will break any external software they are running such as Ward Tools. (That is how the problem with this stake user arose.)

Does anyone know where I can download the 3.3 beta?

Last night I did an MLS backup and then installed 3.2.4 not realizing that I was in fact running the beta (despite not using Windows 7). The installer wiped out my data folder and presented me with the initialization screen. When I try to restore from my backup I get a message stating that the backup is from a newer version of the software.

I don't know how my unit started running 3.3 since I did not install it. My stake might have installed it when trying to address some problems we've been having with our financials since the CUBS rollout. Local unit support isn't available to help me until Monday and so I don't know what to do about tithing tomorrow.

I found it. I don't know if I should post the full link I followed as it bypasses the security.

[Moderator note: You have given the exact reason why the link should not be posted here. Thanks.]

Talk to your stake technology specialist. He should be available before Monday and should also know how to get the 3.3 beta loaded again for you.

Using MLS beta software requires permission from the stake president. Those who are authorized to use it know how to access it, and also know the other important requirements associated with using it.

MLS 3.2.4 (MLS: 3.2.4_19141) came down today, Sat 13Nov2010

The MLS 3.2.4 notes only had the following:
"New Features and Changes in MLS 3.2.4
General Changes
Software Bugs. Some software bugs have been fixed in this version. "

No updates to the "Timeline of MLS" wiki

Note: MLS 3.2.4 did not down load until after the second send receive
This worked this way on two (2) units today

I updated Timeline of MLS, but as you noted, it's pretty boring -- the Release Notes simply say: "Software Bugs. Some software bugs have been fixed in this version. "
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

Could there be any changes in the list of standardized callings in MLS 3.2.4? especially with the elimination of the activities committee or other changes that are part of the rollout if the new Church handbooks?

There is also an updated version of the beta (3.3.0b4 build 19168, posted 12 Nov 2010) available for download for those w/ units running 3.3

It's also available on the mls.lds.org site.

Having seen the new 2.3.4 version of ward MLS, I am relieved to see that the export file retains the MRN.

However, I remain concerned about 3.3.0. Can any stake or ward user with access to the most recent beta reported above, 3.3.0b4 build 19168, determine whether the Membership.csv export file has the MRN column?
