Unable to backup MLS

Unable to backup MLS

We have been unable to make a backup for sometime. So here are the details:

OS: Windows 7 32-bit
MLS: 3.3.1_19756
Java Platform 1.6.0_22
Clerk is set as administrator, but we have run the app through the runas admin too.

When we attempt to close out of MLS, we get the following prompts:

Are you sure that you want to exit MLS? Yes
Fiance data has been changed since the last successful backup. You must backup your database. The only option is to click 'OK'

Onces 'OK' is pressed we receive another popup window titled: An Error Occurred with the same message in the center of the box and a unhappy face.

The only way we can exit MLS is going into Windows Task Manager and killing the app. We receive the same prompts, but at least it will close.

The only error that I can find in the Windows Event Logs is the following:

Info: The program java.exe version 6.0.110.3 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action center control panel.

Were you ever able to save a backup on this Windows 7 machine?

Have you done a full install of the latest MLS version downloaded from mls.lds.org over top of the current installation?

We received the computer when our branch was formed (Late November 2010) and MLS seemed to not have any problems at that time. The problem came up sometime in Feb - Mar.

I went to mls.lds.org, but being new to this position, I know the unit number but the password I haven't a clue.

The wiki article MLS download site explains how to obtain the password.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

After downloading and installing the MLS 3.3.1 application, several times, I am still getting the same error message described above. Here are the last few lines of the synclog:

I think the MLSlog file will be more germane to the problem.

Based on "java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException" I'll take a wild guess that maybe something in the language settings is corrupt. If that doesn't work, you might need to call local unit support.

Would it be just as easy to remove MLS and then re-install it from scratch?

Given that you don't have a good backup, I'm leery about that. I'd call for support.
