MLS: Sacrament Meeting Program Coordinator

#1

Post by ataylor32 »

Hello,

Our ward has somebody else in charge of the sacrament meeting program now. I believe the term "Sacrament Meeting Program Coordinator" is what was used over the pulpit when they were sustained. I can't find anything like this in MLS, though. What should I do? Create a custom position? It seems like it's a standard enough calling that there should be a standard position for it in MLS. Maybe I'm just missing it.

Thanks!

I could be wrong, but I don't think that is a standard position. You'll need to create a custom position, unless they need special rights to some website.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Indeed, there is no standard calling for a Sacrament Meeting Program Coordinator. Standard callings tend to be related to actual roles or specific callings mentioned in the Handbook. The handbooks do not mention a sacrament meeting program, much less a coordinator for such programs.

But that said, there's certainly nothing wrong with a ward choosing to have such a calling. Make it a custom calling, and it will work just fine.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

There are various names in use in various areas for this calling, that is why it doesn't appear on MLS is because of what was said, it's not typically a standard calling, but that said, most wards have a person who takes the information from the bishop, the priesthood and auxiliary heads, etc., that needs to be announced, and prints up the program for the coming Sunday, then prints it out for distribution to members and others as they come in.

In my ward it's very simple, an outline of what is on the program for the meeting, and on the back there is the announcements. It can get much more complex with color pictures, a form for those just moving in to the ward to fill out to get their records in and at least give the bishopric a basic idea who they are, or a leadership directory, etc.

There is no really wrong way to do this, so it usually falls to the person asked to do this, and the bishop of the ward to oversee it.
