Go to the homepage and look in the top left, under the main image. All country sites for the language you are viewing the site in will be listed there.

For some reason that did not appear immediately after the update but appears to be as shown now. That is going to work better than the old way we did it. Now all we have to do is simply go to the link if we want to read what is going on in those areas. Ditto for the other languages.

As to the argument made by some that things are not as good as they were I had no problem with the update, but at the same time also see another positive, in the future a new section in a particular area of the site could be made available, and splitting the other parts of the menu up into smaller groupings rather than one single 'menu' heading will make it easier to add those types of updates to the menu system.

I see that the sign-in menu label has changed. It's now appears as "Sign In/Tools" when you are logged out. (Much better!) I noticed one odditiy: after loggin in, it doesn't show my name until a refresh. At least under Chrome. IE9 seems to shortly after the page loads.

I'm not sure, but I seem to have difficulty in clicking on the actual login link in the menu. Either it's not responsive or there's some kind of trick to it.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Just curious...how are you "working to determine which is valid?"

"Usability studies," or surveys of whole wards, or do you collect the feedback mainly from users (on this forum and the "feedback" links) to make such a determination?

I agree that it's an improvement for the link to be "Sign In/Tools" when you're not signed in. But one odd thing that is not an improvement is in the dropdown that appears when you click the link. The box at the top is also labeled "Sign In/Tools". Now I happen to know that it is a button that takes you to the Sign In page, but i've had multiple people think it is simply a heading. It doesn't look all that much like a button, and I don't understand why it is labeled as it is. It is simply a Sign In button, and so it should be labeled "Sign In"; the "/Tools" is confusing in this context.

The other problem that still causes confusion is after someone signs in. The "Sign In/Tools" link changes to simply be the person's name. There is no indication that it has tools. It would be a bit odd to label it "John Doe/Tools" but it's just not obvious that this is the way to access tools, and also the way to sign out. Perhaps at least a tool tip could be added on that link. I know that Google recently changed their interface to hide the sign out link under the person's name, but that's hardly an established UI standard. I've already heard frustration with this new layout, and it's not even Sunday yet....
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

I agree. My calling is to help/encourage ward members to use the ward website. This small change of moving the tools menu has created a lot of confusion and has added to an already prevailing feeling of "this is just too hard to use." I beg you, please don't change things unless they are broken!

As an STS, it would be nice to at least get an email telling us what's coming, & when. For example, I knew the calendar revision was coming (I signed up for the beta test), but didn't know it had been implemented until I got email from one of our building schedulers regarding all the changes. When I went to check it out, then I discovered these additional changes to the main lds.org page & the login/Tools issue (which, I agree, needs some work to be a bit more intuitive). I'm already subscribed to the new Technology Specialists email list...would be nice if they could use that tool to let us know what's happening when...so we can at least be prepared for the barrage of questions that come our way when things change. We could even let our stake & ward leaders know what's coming ahead of time, so they too are not caught off-gaurd. BTW, I DO appreciate all the good work and changes that are happening on the church site, would just appreciate more/better communication about what's happening when...I shoudn't have to come here and search these threads to find out what's going on. I thought it might just be me, but it's obvious from this thread that I'm not the only one that was caught off-gaurd...

The new changes came into play before the first post in the forum. I was trying to troubleshoot something and made a unpleasant discovery.

I would +1 these comments. We've heard this year about communicating with the STS and other leaders, setting up the subscriptions through the LDS Account, etc. I truly feel the STS role is not yet where it needs to be in relationship with ICS/FamilySearch. We are your Evangelizers. We're on the front lines out there putting together training, encouraging the use of these tools. When changes like this continually happen it makes me feel the fool in this relationship. Members of the Church, STS, Leaders in wards and stakes are not seen or viewed as customers, otherwise, it seems to me, there would be a different priority about communication.
