The Best non smartphone handheld device

#1

Post by davemoore99 »

Hi all, I am my families "technology specialist" and have been asked by my father in law to find him a pda that works well with the church's mobile apps. He doesn't want a smartphone but a pda where he can use the church's mobile apps. Looking for recommendations on the best one to get. Thanks everybody!

Others will know more than I do but is there much of a market for a small, non-phone PDA anymore? I'm most familiar with Apple devices. That said, an iPod Touch seems like a great non-phone, pocket-sized device that can run all those nice iOS apps. In today's market it might seem a bit pricey but, then again, in 2003 I was happy to pay $400 for an HP Pocket PC that didn't even have Wi-Fi. Funny how things change.

(I assume your father in-law isn't interested in a tablet... because there's obviously a growing list of options there.)

Smart phones have largly wiped out the old PDA market. I think your choices are iPod Touch, an used smart phone that's off contract or a tablet - either iOS or Android.

Thanks for the info. I am leaning towards an ipod touch. Saw one at Sams Club tonight for $150.

Look into the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 with a 7.0 screen it work well with the mobile apps as well as being able to access the web. Costco has them on sell right now for $50 dollars off so it makes to price around $189. I think the sell is good until 11 November.
