Regardless of your administrator status, you do have to subscribe to a calendar to be able to view or edit it. That's true of public and private calendars. And for private calendars, you'll only be able to subscribe to it if you have view or edit permissions specifically assigned to you by calling or by name. Have you subscribed to the calendars you're trying to edit/view?

That's an interesting twist; I don't think anyone has mentioned a possible connection to calendars created by Initial Setup. However, I would note that none of my stake's calendars were created using Initial Setup, and yet I can change the viewers/editors for all our private calendars.

What about the case where you manually create a private calendar? You said you could only manage calendars created using Initial Setup, but I would think that you could manage private calendars that you personally set up manually as well. Have you tried that?
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

I'll toss out an idea: There are two private calendars in my stake. I'm in as a editor both as name (I probably created it) and as calling. The other I neither created or am an editor, but I can change who can access it.

I wonder if I can access the one because I have rights to the other. A bug, yes, but we've seen stranger ones. It might explain the different experiences.

The other place I'd look is in what version of the calendar they were set up in. There might be some back end quirks in new calendars vs old ones.

No I have not as I don't have the right to edit/view or subscribe as they are private calendars and I don't need to view or edit them. I was just pointing out that I could add new people to some and not to others, and that the calendars were added in different ways. Just in case that was the problem with the system.

I have not yet myself needed to manually create a private calendar. I have only approved one which was created by one of our leaders for their organization use only. That one I can't add anyone to, but the default ones load using the intial setup I can add anyone to. The default ones I'm speaking about are the bishopric interview calendars.
