As to the Pin. As an assistant ward clerk I was required to create a pin in order to access the LDS tools app on my android device. Due to ward boundary changes I'm no longer a clerk but still have to enter the pin in order to access LDS Tools.

I do not know if I uninstalled and reinstalled LDS Tools to rid myself of the need for a pin when I moved and was release from a calling that required a pin. But for the time I did not have a calling with a need for a pin I did not have to enter a pin. When I was called again to a position that required a pin I had to set one up again after I did a sync that updated the calling position.

If you do not have a calling position that requires a pin for security, and you do not want to use a pin, then I recomend doing a sync, uninstall LDS Tools, and then reinstall.

Once you have a PIN, you have a PIN. The question is, now that you've been released, can you now go into the app setting and uncheck "use PIN"?

Everyone has the option of using a PIN, but for some callings it's mandatory.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

I just checked and the answer is "Yes". I had not thought that it maybe an option, thank you.

I just did as instructed and when I went to install LDS Tools, I was asked to create a PIN again, so I did. In fact, I went as far as doing a fresh install of LDS Tools on my tablet with the current version from the Play Store and then an Alpha version from the beta site. Both required me to enter a PIN after installation.

This was actually my thinking too, but I don't have the option to remove/disable/not use a PIN. The only option I have regarding a PIN is to "Change your PIN"

It seems that the app requires the PIN for your calling, even if it doesn't give you the data. It may be mismatch created by some changes when they took a number of things away.
