Well, I'm using a Mac so the default PDF reader, for me, is not Adobe but Apple's Preview app. I'm sticking with Preview because it always annoys me when I'm forced to install or activate new software that isn't needed most of the time. Like, I don't print a lot of PDFs to paper. I only need to look at them and Preview can do that just fine... unless there's some unique page numbering going on like what is apparently happening with this manual. (Most PDFs don't seem to have page numbering that starts with anything other than the number 1, in my experience, but I guess they decided to comform with the old style of printing books.)

Guess what. I downloaded the manual and opened it up in Adobe Reader - the pages ARE numbered correctly. I also opened it up on Foxit Reader. It displays the pages as "xii (13/320)" so it shows both the printed page and PDF page numbers. (Actually, Adobe also shows both - but the printed page number is in it's own box. The "(13/320)" notation is next to it.)

The manual is now available for the older version (2.5) of the iPad app.
