I haven't updated this project in YEARS now. I now have a little more experience than I did nearly a decade ago; it seems like there is still interest that comes every now and again. It gets way too much interest for me to ignore it. For everyone that lurks on this project, what direction should I take it?
1) Continue with a simple web-based plugin renderer application
2) Make a Linux mobile friendly application
3) Attempt a more "native" approach that uses something lighter that a whole web renderer for desktop
4) Other use case???
What should make this stand out over just using the church website? Most of the Gospel Library features exist on the website now, which was not the case when I started the project nearly a decade ago.
Again, thanks for all the enthusiasm and support over the years everyone.

Re: Gospel Library Like Application for Linux
Your original goal resonates with me: "A way to read the scriptures on Linux that:"
* Is distraction free
* Fast
* Themable
* Offline**
* Syncs with your LDS Account**
Of these, I rank them in the following order:
1. Syncs with LDS Account
2. Offline
3. Fast
Theme able and distraction free aren't important to me.
I understand syncing with Church account is unlikely, but it's still my #1 feature for something like this.
I ran linux as my primary operating system for 10+ years; not currently, but I did help my wife install Mint Linux LTS on a 2011 iMac last week for our date night...
The way you asked the question about which direction to take things is, to me, technical details about implementation rather than focusing on what IS this and what is this NOT. I believe (pun intended) if you focus on the user's experience first, then the choice of how to build it will become clear.
I'm glad the discussion is open again, and I look forward to reading others' replies.
Happy coding!
