Thanks, Russell, for fixing the link this afternoon. I am not sure how I managed to mangle it, because it looked ok to me, but I apologize, especially since conference was over before it got fixed.jdlessley wrote:But after conference began the troubles began. The video frequently was halting and the audio was frequently out of sync with the video. The entire stream stopped for prolonged periods of time (between 30 seconds to 8 minutes). I did not even get the first 18 minutes of the Sunday morning session. The longest period of streaming without any problems was about 22 minutes.
When I lost the stream in the morning session I tried the Windows Media player instead of the Move player. After 11 seconds I got a server error for that.
All-in-all the experience was quite disappointing.
Saturday worked well for me, but Sunday also worked well except that it fed at a slower speed and that was evident in the video. It was also obvious at the beginning of each session that the servers bogged down.
I started the byu.tv feed about 20 minutes before each session started, except for Sunday morning, when it was only about 10 minutes prior. And I had the most problems with that session.
I wonder if this has any effect on the streaming, or if Sunday was just the busiest.
In the past, when I have joined the Young Women and Relief Society general meeting feeds near the starting time of the broadcast, I have had difficulty joining, and the feeds did not work well. When I have joined about 15 minutes before the program begins, I have not had any of the same problems.
I wonder if joining earlier gives some kind of priority on the server and results in better streaming. It seems to work that way for me.
