I have been watching streamed media content via my computer for about 5 years. I have a graphics card that has a HDMI output and before I had that card, I ran a DVI cable out to my 42" flat screen monitor. I have a motu 20 channel input and output audio device that I have connected to my receiver in the living room (I have surround 5.1 capability even though streamed media is usually stereo.) I have never owned cable. I rarely watch conventional air broadcast tv. I mainly watch content off the internet. Life has been good, I watch shows when I want to watch them. I do watch movies on my blu ray player but the bulk of the t.v. shows I watch on my computer. Technology is so great, when I was a kid, my dad owned a T.V. repair shop/ Radio shack. We used to spend our Saturdays installing Huge T.V. Antennas. I used to crawl through attics running coaxial line. We installed $ 300 amplifiers to get the maximum signal. All I can say is the internet has changed everything for the better.
