Can't edit event in calendar

I put an entry into the calendar incorrectly and now can't seem to edit it.

I try and click on the calendar event; eventually, after several clicks, I get to the Edit Event screen. I make changes to the event as best as I can (it won't let me change the end date, but WILL let me enter an "occurrances" number. When I try to save the changes, I get a rectangle in the middle of the screen that I suspect should be a dialog box, but there's no writing on it. The rectangle stays there until I finally give up and log out.

Is there something wrong with the calendar app?
