Initial search doesn't show meetinghouse results

The first time I open the site, I click to search for a meetinghouse. I enter my address, and Maps zooms in to the highest level detail it can show. I back out of the zoom, but I can't see any meetinghouses in my area. It turns out I have to turn on that layer. Can this layer be turned on by default?
Win 7 64 bit, Chrome 17.0

The search results should display the assigned residential ward and the meetinghouse that unit is assigned to. This call has been experiencing some performance issues so it might be that the call took a very long time.
