Office 2003 support Ends 4/8/2014 with XP

We are using Office 2003 on our clerk machine and in the FHC. I see that support for Office 2003 ends when the XP operating system support ends.

Does anyone know if the church plans to roll-out a newer version (2007, 2010, etc) to us? I know Microsoft wants everyone to switch to their newest invention, yearly lease program, but I see this as being quite costly for the church.

You've got to give it to Microsoft. They are doing whatever they can to increase their bottom line and many people are comfortable with them.

As far as I know, the church has never supplied Office for local unit or FHC use. For a time, they did supply MS Works. So I think you're completely on your own.

I'd suggest LibreOffice. I don't know how accurate it is, but I read one tech columnist that says he goes between Libre and MS and doesn't have to think about which one he's on to use it.

You can buy it or you can lease it. It's never been cheap.

As for support, 10 years is a long run. I think you're going to have to look hard to find anyone else that fully supports things that long.
