Formatting in Send a Message has been discussed several times in this and several other topics and threads. In general, copying text from another application into the Send a Message window will fail every time. So we have learned to never do that. Lesson learned!

My wife was recently called as the Email Communication Specialist. Each week, she manually types a digital ward bulletin into the Message window. She even sends a test message to herself to check the formatting before she sends the actual message to the entire ward.

For what it's worth, the calendar system now supports hyperlinks.

I'm a second counselor in a bishopric and regularly use the "Send a Message" function (in LCR under Applications).

1. Would it be possible to have a "send to parents of" option for the primary children and youth under the age of 18. I need to ask permission to contact a youth and it is very time consuming when you have a large number.

2. Would it be possible to have the capability of inserting a piece of information from the members record into the body of the email (i.e. Dear <First Name>, .....). It would make the emails more personable.

Thanks you in advance for your consideration.

This functionality has been there for quite a while. There are options for "Parents of Young Men," "Parents of Young Women," and "Parents of Primary Children."

That is not likely to happen. The whole point of Send a Message was to create a basic tool for sending information by email to members of the ward or stake. It was never intended to provide a full-featured email editor and we never even discussed any kind of options for personalizing the emails.

We are having problems where multiple members in the ward are not getting the e-mail blasts sent out for sacrament meeting links, EQ/RS and sunday school zoom links. It appears they are being delivered, but GMail may be filtering them as spam or skipping the inbox or something along those lines.

Has anyone had this issue? If so, have you identified a pattern?

Are all gmail users having a problem with a particular message? I have gmail and I've been getting ones from my ward.

Two thoughts; It might be something to do with the "reply to" (sender's) email domain. It's possible that some domains don't allow their emails to be used that way. (I'm not sure if that's possible, I'm just brainstorming.)

The other is to ask the member to check their spam folder and mark them as "not spam". Someone may have been sending a large number of "chatty" messages in the past and the member marked them as spam, causing all LCR emails to get routed to spam.

We recorded the sustaining of a new Ward Communications Specialist (not yet set apart). The member signed in with their church account and now sees this as their calling. However, "access denied" was displayed when attempting to access LCR to send a message. The access table indicates a match between the calling and the expected task assigned. Any insights into why this member cannot access "send message" function under LCR?

There is a delay between when the calling is recorded and when the system recognizes those rights. Usually it's only a couple hours but sometimes it's longer so we usually recommend waiting 24 hours before worrying about it. If it's been longer than that then you need to make sure you used the standard calling (there should not be an asterisk next to the calling name in LCR).

So, I have read through quite a bit of this thread now and I don't think this has been answered, apologies if it has, but am I right in thinking there is no way to set up your own list through the Send a Message function? One of our Ward Exec Secs has asked as he has to trawl through all the members and make sure his message is not going to less actives whose information is still in the system (I take the point mentioned earlier that you could just delete the email address from their Church record, but then that would need to be kept somewhere just in case someone actually wanted to email them), but it would be handy if there was a custom list function which could be saved. I know in the Tools app you can make your own list, but then when you send them an email, it just uses your own email account rather than using the Send a Message system which is supposed to make the message more secure and hide other email addresses. Is there a better way to accomplish this?
