Downloading win7 Images

#1

Post by ccordoba24 »

Hi,

I´m having trouble downloading the win7 image for an old dell 580 one of the clerks has in his office (they still haven`t changed it by the way!!) . It will download about 1gb and then freeze up , then fail completely. Tried without firewall, with a new admin account, at church and at home, and without antivirus...

Has anyone else had this problem? and if so can you share any tricks you may have stumbled across? I`m now at the point of being willing to try anything, short of paying for a another Win7 off course!

Can you download it on another computer, then transfer it to the clerk computer?

Just to let you know that very soon Microsoft will end windows 7 O.S updates and they will be stop on the January 14, 2020
Microsoft ended mainstream support for Windows 7 on January 13, 2015, but extended support won't end until January 14, 2020. Find out the difference between mainstream and extended support. This applies as long as you have Service Pack 1 installed.

What happens when Windows 7 support ends?
If you continue to use Windows 7 after support has ended, your PC will still work, but it will become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses because you will no longer receive software updates, including security updates, from Microsoft.

Can I still use Windows 7 after 2020?
Yes, you can continue using Windows 7 even after January 14, 2020. Windows 7 will start and run just like it's doing today. But we advise you upgrade to Windows 10 before 2020 as Microsoft won't provide technical support, software updates, security updates, and fixes after January 14, 2020.

Keep in mind that the Church has agreements with Microsoft that may be different from those available to the general puplic. In the area of Family History Centers, which still generally use Windows 7, the Church will tell us when it is time to upgrade to Windows 10 and will provide the tools to do so.
